Scholarship 2005
STUDENT APPLICATION FORM
First Place Scholarship – $2500.00 cash award
Second Scholarship – $1500.00 cash award
Third Place Scholarship - $1000.00 cash award
The scholarships are open to any student, graduate or undergraduate, attending college in Middle Tennessee and working towards a degree in International Business or a closely related area of study.
Eligible candidates must write an original 1000-word (minimum) essay. Please base your essay on the following:
There are many loud voices from industry and politics nationwide, speaking on the negative effects that purchasing imported goods has on the United States. Often overlooked are the positive aspects of these same transactions. Please discuss the POSITIVE effects that purchasing imported goods has on the United States marketplace and economy.
The essay will be judged using the following criteria:
- Career interests in relation to the topic
- Knowledge of the topic
- Expression of ideas in written form
- Academic Achievement.
The essay, together with a completed copy of this application form and a letter of recommendation from a member of the student's faculty must be returned to the World Trade Council by 5 pm on October 15, 2005. Previous winners are not eligible.
Winners will be notified by October 30th, 2005 . The awards will be given at the World Trade Council "Ports & Flags" dinner on November 8th, 2005. Ports & Flags is Middle Tennessee's premier international business event attended by over 300 area international business executives, and is held at Loew’s Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel in Downtown Nashville. All three winners will be guests of the World Trade Council at Ports & Flags Night, where they will formally accept their awards.
